Lamine Yamal's father accused of assaulting people at airport

Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, has been accused of spitting in the face of a female cafe employee, assaulting a bystander and threatening to throw a chair at Barcelona's El Prat Airport.

The incident occurred as Nasraoui was preparing to board a flight to London to attend the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, where his son was nominated. A dispute with a staff member at a cafe in the departure lounge escalated quickly, requiring intervention by the Spanish Civil Guard.

The trouble began when Nasraoui hung his jacket in an unauthorized area of the cafe. A staff member asked him to remove it. Instead of complying, the father of the Barcelona star reacted aggressively, leading to a heated verbal exchange, El Espanyol reported.

According to passengers at the scene on social media, Nasraoui then spat directly in the employee's face, drawing outrage from witnesses. When bystanders tried to intervene and urged him to stop his aggressive behavior, the situation escalated.

Nasraoui allegedly attacked them and attempted to use a chair as a weapon. He even threatened to throw the chair.

A patrol unit of the Civil Guard, stationed at El Prat Airport, was dispatched to handle the chaotic situation. Ultimately, the incident was brought to an end, and Nasraoui was allowed to board his flight to London.

There is currently no official confirmation regarding whether he would be arrested or face any legal action following the incident, according to Goal.

The altercation took place just hours before the Ballon d'Or gala in London, an event where his son was among the nominees.

The Barcelona delegation was the last to arrive at the ceremony. Yamal was accompanied on the red carpet by his father, mother, stepfather, and younger half-brother.

Yamal only finished third behind Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe in the Ballon d’Or race. He won the Kopa Trophy for young player of the year for the third straight year.

While the 19-year-old Barcelona forward continues to be celebrated for his generational talent and performances on the pitch, his father has repeatedly stirred unwanted controversy through his actions.

Nasraoui frequently draws public attention through live streams and videos posted on social media, and he has been involved in various legal issues and public order incidents in Spain.

In August 2024, he was seriously wounded after being stabbed in a parking lot in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataro. That violent incident stemmed from a conflict between neighbors following an earlier altercation, leading to several arrests.

In May 2023, he was convicted of causing minor injuries and property damage. This incident occurred after he verbally abused and physically assaulted individuals, as well as damaged equipment, at a campaign stall for the Spanish political party Vox.
