Saudi Crown Prince and billionaire Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), the man who controls Cristiano Ronaldo's club, Al Nassr, has long been on a level of opulence that goes beyond imagination, characterized by a series of extraordinary acquisitions.

In 2015, the Crown Prince made global headlines by purchasing the 134m superyacht Serene from a Russian billionaire for €429 million (US$550.7 million). He reportedly finalized the staggering deal just half a day after first stepping aboard. The superyacht is equipped with two helipads, an underwater viewing room, a cinema, multiple swimming pools and even a private nightclub.

That same year, MBS spent over $300 million to acquire the Château Louis XIV near Versailles, France, a monumental property widely dubbed the world's most expensive private residence.

Inspired by classical 17th-century French architecture, the estate incorporates high-end technology, featuring climate control, lighting systems and ornate fountains that can be operated entirely via an iPhone, as well as an immersive underwater aquarium built directly beneath the moat.

The 41-year-old Crown Prince is also believed to be the anonymous buyer behind the record-breaking $450.3 million purchase of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting Salvator Mundi at an auction in 2017.

With his immense wealth, estimated at $25 billion, according to House of Saud, MBS has great influence on the football world as the chairman of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). Under his leadership, the fund aims to diversify the Saudi economy through sports and entertainment as part of the broader Vision 2030 initiative.

In 2023, the PIF took majority control of four founding Saudi Pro League clubs: Al Nassr, Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, and Al Ahli. This acquisition provided the financial backing for Al Nassr to sign Ronaldo, triggering a massive wave of global superstars to the domestic league. MBS's football empire also extends to the Premier League, where the PIF successfully acquired Newcastle United in 2021.

The Crown Prince's vast network of connections includes the world's most prominent figures, namely U.S. President Donald Trump, tech billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, and Hollywood stars including Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman and Lindsay Lohan.

In a previous interview with CBS regarding his lavish lifestyle, MBS said: "As far as my private expenses, I'm a rich person and not a poor person. I'm not Gandhi or Mandela. I'm a member of the ruling family that existed for hundreds of years before the founding of Saudi Arabia."

However, this life of luxury is currently facing significant challenges from regional security tensions. According to The Wall Street Journal, following a recent wave of drone and missile attacks by Houthi forces targeting airports and oil infrastructure in the capital of Riyadh, as well as commercial maritime routes in the Red Sea being threatened, the Crown Prince has relocated his daily operations to fortified palaces equipped with secure underground bomb shelters.
